Sometimes, a great footprint just needs the right layout to come alive.

Despite its east-facing exposure and the home's otherwise open, airy flow, the kitchen felt dim, cramped, and disconnected by comparison.

To unlock its potential, we opened the dividing wall to create a seamless peninsula and swapped the solid porch door for glass, instantly flooding the room with morning light. By reconfiguring the work zone, we engaged the kitchen's furthest corners to maximize the footprint, anchoring the space with a fully integrated, built-in island. The resulting layout feels both intentional and effortlessly connected—establishing a seamless foundation for the design elements to follow.
Every finish was chosen to work with the home's existing brick flooring and to age well: fireclay tile with a soft, hand-crackled glaze for the backsplash, and durable quartz counters for everyday ease. A small seating perch at the end of the island — tucked right beside the windows — gives our client a quiet spot for her morning coffee, proof that even a modest footprint can hold a moment of real comfort.
